Japan Football Association announces bid for 2023 Women’s football World Cup

FIFA officially launched the 2023 Women’s World Cup bidding process on 19th. Japanese Football Association president Yoshida shimosai said that bidding for the women’s football World Cup was the goal planned by the Japanese Football Association since 2013.

Xinhua News Agency, Tokyo, February 20th the Japanese Football Association announced on the 20th that it would bid for the 2023 Women’s World Cup. If the bid is successful, Japan will become the second Asian country to host the event after China.

According to the regulations of FIFA, all associations that intend to bid for the 2023 Women’s World Cup must submit their bid intention to FIFA before March 15. The FIFA Council will decide the final venue in March 2020.

Japan won the women’s World Cup championship in 2011. The 2019 Women’s World Cup will be held in France from June to July.

The first women’s football World Cup was held in China in 1991and then held every four years. The two competitions in 1991 and 2007 were held successively in China. If Japan’s bid is successful, it will become the second Asian country to host the women’s football World Cup.
