The president of the Italian Olympic Committee expressed optimism about the prospect of bidding for the 2026 Winter Olympics

Xinhua News Agency, Rome, April 2 the evaluation committee of the International Olympic Committee is conducting a five-day inspection of its facilities for bidding for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, while Malago, the president of the Italian Olympic Committee, is optimistic about the prospect of bidding.

The International Olympic Committee first inspected Cortina danpezo in northeastern Italy. It used to be the host of the 1956winter Olympics and will host the 2021alpine skiing world championships. This time, Cortina danpezo and Milan will jointly bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Marago said: “After the first day of investigation, I was very optimistic. However, I also try not to be too proud of myself. We made a perfect statement comparing the venue and venue facilities, and I think the evaluation committee will give positive comments.”

Marago also said that the bidding work has reached the stage of formal competition instead of warm-up, and the current performance will influence the final voting result.

The investigation of the evaluation committee of the International Olympic Committee lasted from 2 to 6. Previously, the International Olympic Committee had already inspected Stockholm, another host city for the Winter Olympics.

According to the Italian bidding plan, Cortina danpezo will host the competitions of women’s alpine skiing, cold water jug, sled, snowmobile and steel snowmobile.

Marago said: “There is a long history of winter projects here, which can be traced back to the 1956 Winter Olympics. Everything is very convenient. In my opinion, only Cortina has such conditions.”

The evaluation report of the International Olympic Committee on the two bidding places is expected to be released before the end of May. Finally, the International Olympic Committee will vote to determine the host city of the 2026 Winter Olympics at the plenary meeting held in Lausanne on June 24.

Italy has held three Olympic Games. In addition to the 1956 Winter Olympics, there were Rome Summer Olympics in 1960 and Turin Winter Olympics in 2006.
