Xie Jun served as chairman of China independent area of Asian national elephant Federation

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, April 24 (reporters Wang Jingyu and Zheng Zhi) Xie Jun, the former chess player of the world, confirmed to reporters on the 24th that she had assumed the post of chairman of China independent area of the Asian Chess Federation.

On the 23rd Beijing time, the chairman of the Asian Chess Federation, Shaikh Sultan bin harifa Al Nahayan, sent a congratulatory letter to the Chinese Chess Association, in which he said: “We are very glad that China recommended Ms. Xie Jun as the chairman of China independent area of the Asian Chess Federation. I believe Xie Jun is the former women’s world champion, her role model will help the popularization and development of chess in Asia.”

Xie Jun said in an interview with Xinhua news agency: “I am very happy to serve my favorite national elephant career in my life on a new platform. This new role has new challenges. First of all, our orientation should be the development of chess in China. Of course, as the role of Chinese independent area, we may consider it more from an international perspective. Chess, as intelligence gymnastics, I believe it has a very powerful comprehensive function. No matter in humanities communication, education, cultural communication, or now with the development of artificial intelligence in science and technology, it can play an important role. Especially in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the project of connecting people’s hearts, chess can play the role of serving the public communication. I believe that as a Chinese independent area, under the leadership of the International Chess Federation and the Asian Chess Federation, we should better play its role on the international stage and spread more Chinese wisdom and experience.”

Xie Jun said that China should be said to be a powerful chess country. In the past, we paid more attention to the popularization of chess in China and the development of competitive level. Now we may need to consider the mission and responsibility of being a big chess country in the cultivation of international talents, international exchanges and other aspects play a greater role.

“It should be said that chess has a good momentum of development in China. I believe that with the efforts of China Chess Association, chess and card Sports Management Center, the State General Administration of Sports and other parties, chess can play more roles in expanding China’s influence and other aspects.”

Xie Jun is currently the vice president of Capital Institute of Physical Education. She is the first Chinese women’s world champion in chess and once broke the long-year monopoly of European and American players on the champion of this project. Xie Jun is also a senior coach and international referee of the International Chess Federation, and has won honorary titles such as “National woman pace-setter” and “National New Long March fighter.
