It is understood that the national youth chess winter summer camp has been carried out for several years, but in the past it was basically limited to the winter vacation and summer vacation every year. Starting from 2019, winter summer camp activities will run throughout the year. Guo Liping said that the winter summer camp in 2019 was a youth promotion activity officially established with the support of Qing Shao department of the State General Administration of Sports, and it was also one of the most important events of the year of the Chinese Chess Association. National youth chess winter summer camp is a national chess promotion activity aimed at popularizing chess skills, including chess culture, etiquette, quality and other aspects of communication activities.

Zhu Guoping, director of the chess and card center of the State General Administration of Sports and chairman of the Chinese Chess Association, said that the national winter summer camp for youth chess was the largest in the history of chess in China, the nationwide popularization and promotion of youth chess with the widest coverage is of great significance to the popularization of chess in youth groups and the inheritance of Chinese excellent traditional culture.

Winter summer camp 2019was officially launched in March, and a mobilization meeting was held in Kunshan, Jiangsu province on May 1. At the meeting, the Chinese Chess Association officially announced the list of members of the first batch of national chess schools. Zhu Guoping said that chess is one of the representatives of Chinese excellent traditional culture. Carrying out Chess in Schools helps to develop students’ intelligence and cultivate perfect personality, which is a powerful inheritance of Chinese excellent traditional culture. At the policy level, the state has also been supporting and guiding the popularization and promotion of chess on campus.

Guo Liping said that for the Chinese Chess Association, the winter summer camp throughout the year is also a brand new challenge. She said: “The national youth chess winter summer camp breaks through the traditional mode in the past and is a chess theme activity covering the whole year and facilitating the participation of the majority of teenagers. While the national youth chess winter summer camp mobilization meeting was held in 2019, the national chess characteristic school competition of Chaoyang Primary School Cup in 2019 also kicked off in Kunshan on the 1st. Hundreds of primary and secondary school students from all over the country and representatives from 109 National Chess schools gathered in Kunshan to join friends in the three-day event and spend the may day together.
