Olympic champion Guo Weiyang: to make gymnastics interesting and fashionable on campus

On the 15th, the second gymnastics cultural festival of Yunnan province of “Sports Lottery Cup” was held in Kunming gymnasium. Guo Weiyang, He Kexin and Wang Xin came to the scene together to cheer for the small players, which made the children participating on the scene very excited. “I am really pleased to see so many children in Yunnan who love gymnastics and practice gymnastics. I hope Yunnan gymnastics is getting better and better.” He Kexin said.

This gymnastics festival brings together two major events of the province’s children’s gymnastics, happy gymnastics and Aerobics Championships and Yunnan cheerleading championships, including four major events of children’s gymnastics, happy gymnastics, aerobics and cheerleading, 20 small items. The competition attracted more than 1,400 athletes from 40 teams in various provinces and cities across the province, ranging in age from kindergarten to university.

Yu Hongying, chairman of Yunnan Gymnastics Association, introduced that the association has been committed to promoting the development of children gymnastics for many years. In order to integrate with the national gymnastics syllabus, hou Zhiliang, secretary general of Yunnan Gymnastics Association, and Guo Weiyang, the Olympic champion, jointly compiled the syllabus of happy gymnastics for children aged 4 to 5, which was successfully promoted in kindergartens across the province.

Guo Weiyang chose to return to Yunnan to engage in gymnastics teaching after retirement. He revealed that the Yunnan gymnastics festival will invite Southeast Asian countries to participate in the competition next year.
