The twelve cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Dalian, Xi’an, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Changsha, Suzhou and Guangzhou were submitted as alternative cities by the Chinese Football Association.

The Chinese Football Association said: “The Asian Football League officially granted China the right to host the 2023 Asian Cup at the special congress held in Paris. During the bidding period, many provinces and cities across the country responded positively and supported strongly, creating favorable conditions for the successful bidding. The Chinese Football Association expressed its heartfelt thanks for this.”
“During the bidding period, a total of 19 cities put forward their bidding intentions to the Chinese Football Association, showing their strong support for the bidding work and football cause. Among them, more than ten cities have provided detailed bidding materials. On this basis, according to the requirements of the Asian Football Association, the Chinese Football Association submitted the basic information of 12 alternative cities to the Asian Football Association on schedule.”
“After obtaining the right to host the Asian Cup in 2023, the Chinese Football Association will comprehensively consider the basic conditions of each bidding city and the overall development layout of the football career in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Asian Football Association on the organization of the Asian Cup, on the basis of joint investigation and evaluation of all 19 cities with the Asian Football Association, the specific cities and schedule of the 2023 Asian Cup were finally determined.”
On June 4, at the special congress held in Paris, the Asian Football Association officially granted the Chinese Football Association the right to host the 2023 Asian Cup. The plan of China to bid for the 2023 Asian Cup announced by the Asian Football Association on the 5th shows that Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Dalian, Xi’an, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Changsha, Suzhou, the twelve cities in Guangzhou were submitted as alternative cities by the Chinese Football Association.
