Thailand’s weightlifting team did not participate in the 2020 Olympic Games due to doping problems

Xinhua News Agency, Bangkok, March 9th the International Weightlifting Federation recently announced that due to the problem of stimulants, the Thai weightlifting team actively banned itself and would not participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and all other international competitions.

In November 2018, the Thai team participating in the world national championship of weightlifting failed eight drug tests, including three female players who won the World Championship. Two of the eight won gold medals in Rio Olympics.

Although Thai players will not participate in the competition, Thailand will still host the 2019 weightlifting World Championship in September, with the venue in Pattaya.

Thailand is a powerful country in traditional weightlifting, especially at a lighter level.
