The Chinese Football Association won the professional qualification certificate of “FIFA coach convention” in Paris on the 2nd. In the future, the Chinese Football Association has the right to separately organize the training courses for the professional coaches of the Asian Football Association, and there is no need to declare for approval. This opens up the training channels for coaches at all levels of Chinese football and helps to alleviate the shortage of coaches, especially high-level coaches, who have long troubled the development of Chinese football.

FIFA launched the FIFA coach convention on September 1, 2017, which was implemented in various member associations in Asia. The FIFA coach convention, as the agreement and contract of grade coach training between the FIFA and its member associations, is divided into Grade B, grade A and the highest professional level for the qualification certification of each member association.

It is understood that the rights enjoyed by the Chinese Football Association after its accession to the FIFA coach convention include: the certificate of the FIFA coach convention, the logo of the training convention, the criteria for the certificate of the Asian Football Association are issued to the Chinese Football Association; The Chinese Football Association will have the right to separately organize the training courses for B- level, A- level and professional-level coaches of the Asian Football Association, instead of applying for approval; after the courses organized separately by the Chinese Football Association, the Chinese Football Association has the right to issue the coach training grade certificate and license of the Asian Football Association, which is recognized by the Asian Football Association.

The Chinese Football Association was awarded the professional membership qualification of the FIFA coach convention in April 15 this year, becoming the second National Association to obtain professional certification after the Japanese Football Association (obtained in December 2018). Currently, only Japan, China and Qatar have obtained the certification qualification in Asia.

The Chinese Football Association has obtained the qualification of training and certification for professional coaches, which is first derived from the huge realistic demand. The overall plan of Chinese football reform and development proposes to strengthen the training of football professionals. According to the Chinese Football Association, compared with 2015, over the past few years, the number of training periods and the number of people of B, C and D coaches who mainly serve teenagers have increased significantly, A total of nearly 38000 people increased in four years (2015-2018). However, due to the lack of FIFA certification, the training of professional coaches located at the top of the pyramid, facing the national team and top professional teams has not increased significantly in recent years.

Secondly, the efforts made by the Chinese Football Association in training coaches have been recognized and affirmed by the Asian Football Association. Since 1998, the Chinese Football Association has been in line with the Asian Football Association and has started the training of consistency with the Asian Football Association, including the integration and transformation of Junior, intermediate and senior coaches and the Asian Football Association hierarchy. In recent years, the Chinese Football Association has further improved the training system of Chinese football coaches and achieved maximum coverage in the training of coaches at all levels.

In March 2018, the Chinese Football Association held the first seminar on training teaching materials for Chinese football association level coaches, inviting relevant experts from FIFA, UEFA and FIFA, representatives of Chinese Football Association member associations, more than 40 high-end lecturer representatives participated together, and finally determined the coach training system of Chinese Football Association in line with international norms and was recognized by the Asian Football Association. The framework system of coach training from D level to professional level is determined, and related contents such as age group and player development are targeted, and the training system is improved.

In terms of coach lecturer work, the Chinese Football Association has been devoted to the training and development of local coaches and lecturers since 2008. It entered the development stage in 2017 and was recognized by the Asian Football Association and entered the rapid development stage in 2018. Through hard work, compared with the previous year, the number of assistant lecturers and main lecturers in Class D increased by more than 100 in 2018, the number of main lecturers in Class C increased by 14, and the number of main lecturers in Class B increased by 10, the number of Class A main lecturers increased by 1.

Lippi, Campiello, scorari, Pellegrini…… In recent years, the names of the Chinese football field appear one by one. World-class celebrities may bring new ideas to Chinese football in the concept of techniques and tactics, but they cannot fundamentally solve the current situation of lack of local high-level coaches. Now the Chinese Football Association has obtained the qualification certification of professional coaches of the Asian Football Association, which has opened up an upward channel for training high-level coaches. It not only further conforms to the international standards, unifies the standards, but also makes the advanced system more perfect, moreover, it has the autonomy to independently organize the training of B- level, A- level and professional-level coaches of the Asian Football Association. In the future, Chinese campus football, youth training system and professional football players are not only expected to accept the guidance of more high-level coaches, but also will improve their recognition of coaches, thus promoting the popularization and development of football.

Of course, this is only the “first step of the Long March”. Chinese football has a long way to go from continuously exporting high-level coaches and serving the overall development.
