Ke Jie, the first person in weiqi, went on the hot search again, not because he won the champion of which world competition, but because he was admitted by Tsinghua University.

Recently, the Ministry of Education issued the Notice on approving 85 colleges and universities such as Tsinghua University to ensure the admission of athletes in 2019, and published a list of 948 people who were exempted from the examination, the reporter found that Ke Jie, the first person in Chinese go, was among them, which also meant that he, who was 21 years old this year, would officially become a 2019 freshman in Tsinghua University.

It has always been nothing new for athletes engaged in professional sports to go to college, but on Ke Jie, the first person who comes with the flow of go, the popularity is different. From registration to admission, it is very rare for a chess player to go to Weibo for hot search twice.

Even Ke Jie himself was very helpless: “I have won two world championships in succession in the past two years. Instead, I am not as popular as I am on variety shows and Shanghai Qing Hua. It is funny to say, I am actually a little sad.”

Although before Ke Jie ridiculed himself that he hated less when he came to the book, now it seems that the matter of studying in Tsinghua did not distract Ke Jie too much. Not long ago, Ke Jie had won ten consecutive victories in the recent chess and Holy War and the LG Cup, showing the courage of the world’s first person again.

In fact, there are many professional chess players who go to college. The head coach of Zhejiang weiqi team, blue sky, graduated from Nankai University editing publishing specialty. Chess players Zhang Tao and Tan Xiao are both students of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics at present. Even in Tsinghua University, Ke Jie already had two chess players who were also world champions: Gu Li enrolled in the history department in 2015 and Jiang Weijie enrolled in the School of Economics and Management in 2017.

Before, Ke Jie’s father revealed in an interview that Ke Jie would study for business administration specialty after entering school, but the specific major and class method were still unknown. As for why he wanted to study this major, as a hometown friends for many years, Blue Sky told reporters that he had actually talked about this topic with Ke Jie. At that time, Ke Jie told him that Tsinghua recommended him to study this major, he went to read it without thinking too much. However, Ke Jie himself once said with ridicule: “If I choose AI or other majors, I may be tired and bald……”

According to the reporter’s understanding, Business Administration is a big category, and the following will also subdivide the majors of enterprise management, marketing, human resources and so on, and some even list the related majors of accounting. Wang Xiaochen, a professor at the School of Business Administration and Master’s tutor of Zhejiang Gongshang University, told the reporter: “For students who enter the campus as athletes, advanced mathematics is the most difficult, it’s a caner that nobody can get around. As for the freshman course of the major of business administration, it will be mainly based on basic courses such as Chinese mathematics and so on. It will not be until the next semester of freshman year that it will slowly come into contact with professional courses, such as Principles of Management and Organizational Behavior, these courses are mainly based on understanding, which should not be a problem for Ke Jie, who is already engaged in mental sports.”

Like most professional athletes, professional chess players often face the choice of academic and professional paths when they are very young. The more talented chess players are, the earlier they have to interrupt their studies to learn chess, ke Jie left his hometown to study chess in Beijing in grade 2 of primary school. Returning to the campus, perhaps he himself did not know what kind of difficulties and challenges he would face.

As a person who has passed by, blue sky means that going to college is just to do something that ordinary people can do, which is difficult and difficult to vary from person to person. “Judging from my personal reading experience, the most difficult course at that time was advanced mathematics and English. Both courses needed a relatively solid foundation, and most chess players were relatively weak, other disciplines have little problem.”

Blue Sky believes that the challenge Ke Jie needs to face is not the study itself, but how to balance the time allocation between playing chess and learning. “At that time, I felt that reading could make the road of life wider and wider, and I made up my mind to transform, so there were few games later. When I was a freshman, I had to go out to compete. The cultural scores were more than 20 in the class. Since my sophomore year, I gradually reduced the time for participating in the competition, in my junior year, my final exam was the third in my class. However, the current Ke Jie is just the year of playing, and it is definitely the following Chess. The time will not be too much inclined to study. After all, the professional arena is king and defeated.”

Of course, some schools have preferential policies on the academic assessment of these top athletes. Professor Wang Xiaochen said: “Take our school as an example, the results of national first-class athletes will be multiplied by 1.5 times. Although it is relatively loose, if you want to graduate, you still need to take enough credits and the results will reach the standard, it is not to relax without a bottom line, but schools with different policies are different.” However, when Blue Sky was studying in Nankai University at that time, there was no similar policy, so it was only true to learn good courses and complete credits.

Speaking of the balance between study and playing chess, Ke Jie expressed his hope that he could be perfect. “To allocate time for learning and playing go, I don’t want everyone to have a stereotype about athletes. We can also have high achievements in Weiqi and good cultivation.” “I am not a salted fish I AM who has ideals. I hope to give myself some pressure and motivation to have goals. I don’t want to be idle.”
