Xinhua News Agency, Kathmandu, April 1 (reporter Zhou Shengping) affected by the overhaul of the only runway of trebwan International Airport, from April 1, nepal’s domestic airlines grounded all mountain flights from Kathmandu to lukala.
The place of origin was changed to manthale airport, which is located in La mechab County, about 85 kilometers from Kathmandu. It takes about 5 hours to get there by bus from Kathmandu International Airport.
Lukala is the nearest civil airport to the southern slope of Mount Everest. Almost all the hikers and climbers who go to Mount Everest must pass here.
Trebwan International Airport is the only international airport in Nepal, which is divided into domestic and international parts. Their common runway was built in 1975 and is now overwhelmed. The airport authorities decided to overhaul it thoroughly. The overhaul started from April 1 to June 30, and almost all international and domestic flights were affected.
In this regard, many travel agencies in Nepal said that the spring mountaineering season is coming, and the government’s move is not wise. However, the management authority of the trebuwan airport retorted that the runway was critical to safety and the current dry season was the best time to repair the runway.
