Results of group draw for the 2019 African Nations Cup

Xinhua News Agency, Cairo, April 12 (reporter Zheng Siyuan, Wu Danni) the group draw ceremony for the group match of the 2019 African Nations Cup football match was held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on the evening of 12th. 24 participating teams were divided into 6 groups, each group has 4 teams to compete.

Group draw results are:

Group A: Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Zimbabwe
Group B: Nigeria, Guinea, Madagascar, Burundi
Group C: Senegal, Algeria, Kenya, tanzania
Group D: Morocco, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Namibia.

24 teams are divided into 4 levels according to the ranking, and 6 teams in each level are drawn to each group respectively. The host Egypt team directly entered Group A as A team, and the defending champion Cameroon team was also assigned to Group F as A team. According to the rules, the first two of each group and the third of the four groups with the best results will be promoted to the elimination stage.

Egypt won the right to host the African Nations Cup in January this year. The reason why the former host country Cameroon gave up the right to host the Games was that the African Football Association believed that there was a big gap between Cameroon’s ability to host the Games and the competition needs.

Egypt held four events in 1959, 1974, 1986and 2006. Egypt has won seven championships before, and the latest one was in 2010.

IOC President Bach will visit Manchester to inspect Taekwondo World Championships

Xinhua News Agency, Manchester, May 17 (Reporter Prince Jiang) International Olympic Committee President Bach will go to Manchester stadium in England to inspect the ongoing World Taekwondo Championship.

Zhao Zhengyuan, chairman of the World Taekwondo Federation, said on the 17th: “Taekwondo is very lucky. When the 2017 World Championships were held in Mao Zhu, South Korea, chairman Bach had been to the competition site, now he will inspect Manchester in the future.”

It is revealed that Bach is most likely to watch the match in Manchester on the evening of the 18th.

Zhao Zhengyuan also said that Bach would discuss the preparations for the Tokyo Olympic Games with the World Taekwondo Federation.
