Chinese gymnastics mens team a group of 17 people arrived in Tokyo on the afternoon of February 11, and the training will be held at the National Training Center of weizhisu, which will last until the 17th. This is the second joint training for gymnasts of the two countries. On january 27, the japanese gymnastics men’s team went to beijing to participate in the joint training.

On the media opening day on the 13th, athletes from both countries sweated on the training ground, including single parallel bars, rings, pommel horses, vaulting horse, free exercise, etc.

“I think the joint training between china and japan is a good start, which is a good thing for china and japan to promote the training level and strengthen exchanges and learning.” National Gymnastics Team coach Hong-Wei Wang said in an interview.

Zou Jingyuan, the men’s parallel bars champion of the 2017 World Gymnastics Championships and the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, hopes to warm up for the Tokyo Olympic Games during the joint training.

“Asian Gymnastics has always been the most powerful in China and Japan. The Japanese team has monopolized all-round title for many years since 2009, which shows that the Japanese team has a good overall technology.” Zou Jingyuan said.

Zou jingyuan looks forward to cooperating with the japanese team again in the future: “because the 2020 olympic games are compared in tokyo, I hope I can come to tokyo to study more before the olympic games and feel this kind of environment, it will not be strange when the game comes.”

Regarding the difference between the joint training in japan and the joint training in beijing, zou jingyuan said, “I think the difference is quite big. If you change the training environment, you will be more excited, it will be better if you can’t help yourself.”

Xiao ruoteng, men’s all-round title of the 2017 world gymnastics championships, said in an interview: “I met japanese athletes all the year round in the competition, but I didn’t see how they trained. After watching it now, I feel that they are very sincere and hard-working.”

Xiao ruoteng said that he paid special attention to the japanese team’s performance in free exercise: “they have a relatively high level in this project. Through observation, they can learn their practice methods.”

The Japanese gymnastics men’s team also appreciated the strength of the Chinese team. Olympic champion kōhei uchimura said: “I am most concerned about zou jingyuan and xiao ruoteng. They will be difficult to surpass in the future. I want to see what kind of training they have done before they reach this level.”

Japanese team coach waterbird shousi said: “(chinese team) attaches great importance to the basic part and trains very carefully. I think this is the characteristic of chinese team. This feature makes the Chinese team strong.”
