Enrick resigns Spain’s national team and welcomes Cainiao coach

Xinhua News Agency, Madrid, June 19 (Xie Yuzhi) the Spanish Football Association announced on the 19th that Enrick resigned as coach of the Western national team for personal reasons and was replaced by assistant coach Moreno.

Ruby Ares, president of the Western Football Association, confirmed Enrick’s decision at the press conference on that day, but did not disclose the specific reasons for his resignation. At the same time, he also announced that Enrick’s successor was his deputy Moreno. According to Spanish media, Enrick chose to resign because of family affairs.

Enrick took over the national team after the World Cup last year. In the 7 games he directed, the Spanish national team scored 5 wins and 2 losses. He said in a farewell letter: “Due to some reasons that have made me unable to carry out the work of head coach of the national team normally from March to now, I made the decision to leave.” At the same time, he thanked the Western Football Association for its trust and understanding, as well as the work of all players and coaching staff.

Spain’s new coach Moreno said that this was “a day of mixed tastes” for him: “I always expect myself to be the head coach, but not under such circumstances.” At the same time, he affirmed that his goal was to continue the work that Enrick had started and lead the Spanish national team to win the next European Championship.

Moreno had no experience of coaching top league clubs or national teams alone before. Since Enrick was in charge of Rome, he has been Enrick’s teaching assistant, and he has followed many clubs. After Enrick became the coach of the West national team in 2018, he also became the assistant coach of the national team. In the past three national team matches, he took the position of head coach instead of Enrick who was absent for some reason and achieved a complete victory in the third world.
