Face recognition system will be used in all venues of America Cup in 2019

Xinhua News Agency, Rio de Janeiro, April 25 (reporter Zhao Wei Chen Weihua) the organizing committee of the 1999 Brazil America Cup announced on the 25th that during this year’s America Cup, face recognition systems will be used at the entrances of all stadiums to ensure security.

This decision was announced at the security forum held in Rio de Janeiro that day. Ilario medelos, security director of Brazil America Cup organizing committee, said: “This America Cup will be the first competition to use face recognition system in Brazil. We will use the information database provided by the world, cooperate with public security organizations around the world and Interpol to prevent suspects who may cause riots or affect other fans from entering the stadium.”

Medalos, who participated in the security plan of the 2014 Brazil World Cup, said: “This is a technology that is already very stable in the world, our intention is to let the public security forces have the conditions to capture the images of the monitoring system of each stadium to complete their work. If someone is on the blacklist of a security organization, it will be identified immediately.”

In addition to using the face recognition system, the competition will also mobilize 10000 specially employed security personnel from the organizing committee to patrol the stadium.

The security plan of Brazil America Cup has been jointly formulated with Brazil federal police, federal highway police, military police, civilian police, fire brigade, civil defense department, Quarantine Bureau and Civil Aviation Bureau since last September.

Antonio DeJesus, head of the unified operations center of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of Brazil, said: “We will work with the organizing committee to ensure the safety of the event, and we will also identify dangerous behaviors, monitor dangerous elements and have formulated corresponding response plans.”

Brazil America Cup will be held in 6 stadiums in 5 Brazilian cities from June 14 to July 7. In addition to the 10 members of the South American Football Association, the participating team also invited Japan and Qatar from Asia to participate.
