In the women’s team competition, the Chinese team composed of Zheng yizha, Meng fanxu and Anqi Xuan lost 4:5 to the British team in the bronze medal battle and won the fourth place. The Chinese Taipei team defeated South Korea 6:2 in title decider and won the World championship women’s team for the first time in history. Brad Ellison of the US team and Lei Qianying of the Chinese Taipei team won the men’s and women’s individual project championships respectively.
“In this world championship, we sent a very young team. Three of the six players were 18 years old, with an average age of 20 years old, and all the players participated in the competition for the first time.” National team leader Xiao Haopeng said.
According to the relevant rules of the International Archery Federation, men’s and women’s groups entering the top eight teams in this world championship will automatically get full seats for the Tokyo Olympic Games next year (except for group project qualifications, three men and women can participate in individual projects respectively). The Chinese team has become the only four teams with full seats. The other three teams are the Chinese Taipei team, the British team and the traditional strong team South Korea team.
“After hiring Korean coaches in last November, the training methods, training concepts and selection methods of the national team have changed greatly. This task and goal is to try our best to complete the task of full seats. At the same time, we will train the team in the process, test the early training and selection results, and analyze and adjust the preparation for the next step.” Xiao Haopeng said.
In the newly added mixed group project of the Tokyo Olympic Games, the Chinese team did not perform very well this time and was eliminated by the uklan team in the second round. Xiao Haopeng said that due to the selection method, the Chinese team still lacks cooperation in this project, which is also the place that needs to be strengthened in the following training.
“The mixed group projects are all based on the ranking of the competition on the spot, and the top men and women of each team participate in the combination, and there is a lack of running-in before the competition. In the next step, we also need to find some ways to conduct matching training in advance.”
The champion of the mixed group project in this world championship was won by the South Korean team. In the final, they won the host Holland team 6:0. Since the establishment of the mixed group project in the 2011 world championships, the South Korean team has never let the champion of the project pass.
